What is a csa membership?
CSA is short for Community Supported Agriculture. Our CSA membership program provides an opportunity for you to invest financially in our farm at the beginning of a growing season when sales are typically at their lowest and our operating costs at their highest. In return, you will receive a weekly share (or subscription) of our fresh, seasonal produce during the upcoming growing season.
What’s in the CSA Membership box?
As a CSA member, you will receive a curated weekly box of our fresh, seasonal produce. A single share will receive 4-6 different vegetables and a a full share will receive 6-8 different vegetables. Note: quantities may be less the first few weeks and increase as the growing season progresses.
How long does the csa run?
Our 20-week CSA membership runs from mid-May through the end of September. The 2025 season is slated to start the week of May 11, 2025 and run thru September 27, 2025.
How do I get my box?
We plan to offer pick-up sites at the Columbia Farmers Market on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. In addition, we will offer pickup in Ashland, MO on Thursdays afternoon/evenings. The exact location of the Ashland pickup is to be determined.
What are The Membership Options?
- Full, 20-week Summer Share- $900 ($45/week)
- The full membership share generally contains 6-8 different vegetables. This amount of vegetables is most suited for a family that cooks at least 4-5 meals at home a week.
- Single, 20-week Summer Share- $600 ($30/week)
- Our single membership share generally contains 4-6 different vegetables each week. This amount of vegetables is best for a single person or couple that cooks meals at home several times per week or a family that is new to seasonal eating.
- 20-week Summer Market Share- $250
- Our market membership shares is for members who are interested in supporting Abounding Acres, but prefer to select their vegetables every week. Members will receive an Abounding Acres gift card in the amount of $250 to shop at our booth at the Columbia Farmers Market. Members can choose as little or as much as they would like each week. There is no cap on the number of gift cards members can purchase. We ask that members are mindful of spending and spend gift cards within the 2025 calendar year. E-Gift Cards are available for purchase online. If you prefer a physical card, please stop by our booth at the Columbia Farmers Market to purchase.
Common frequently asked questions
How Consistent are the Size of the CSA Shares from Week to Week?
We try our best to keep all shares as consistent as possible. However, during the start of the season, the shares may be slightly smaller. We will make up any difference during peak season.
When and Where do I Pickup my Share?
- Wednesdays 4 pm – 6 pm at the Columbia Farmers Market
- Thursdays 3 or 4 pm – 6 pm in Ashland (exact location TBD)
- Saturdays 8 am – 11 am at the Columbia Farmers Market
What Happens if I Can’t Pickup My Share One Week?
- Have a friend or family member pickup for you!
- Contact us to reschedule your pickup for that week. This option requires a three day advance notice. If you normally pickup on Wednesday, you can pickup on Thursday or Saturday. If you normally pickup on Saturday, you will pick up the Wednesday or Thursday before.
- Contact us to skip the week. At this time, we don’t offer a discount if you need to skip a week. Please notify us three days in advance if you need to cancel pickup for a week.
What Types of Vegetables Will I Receive?
Our CSA shares include a variety of seasonal vegetables and herbs, such as tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, kale, cucumbers, squash, and peppers. What’s included depends on what we are harvesting that week. We will send out a weekly email newsletter that previews the items in the share each week. In addition, we will also post on Instagram and Facebook.
Can I Customize my CSA Box?
At this time, we do not offer customization of boxes. If you are concerned that you will not like what is offered in the boxes each week, we would suggest getting our Gift Card Market Share Option which will allows you to shop our stall at the farmers market.
What if I Don’t Know How to Cook Certain Vegetables?
We will provide recipe suggestions and cooking tips in our weekly newsletter to help you make the most of the seasonal vegetables you receive.
How Can I Store my Produce so It Lasts Longer?
As a CSA member, you will receive access to our A to Z Vegetable Storage guide for free.
What Happens if There is a Poor Harvest or Weather-Related Issue?
One of the benefits and challenges of CSA membership is that you’re sharing the risks and rewards of farming with us, the farmers. If there’s a poor harvest due to bad weather or pests, your share may be smaller or include different vegetables than planned.
