Caterpillar Tunnels March 2024 Tour
In February of 2024, we put up two caterpillar tunnels. These are unheated, covered growing spaces. We have four 30” beds in each one. Here’s what is currently growing in each.
Caterpillar Tunnel #1
- Arugula
- Spicy Greens Mix
- Turnips
- Beets
Caterpillar Tunnel #2
- Spicy Greens
- Carrots
- Carrots
- Radishes

High Tunnel March 2024
Our high tunnel is essentially a larger caterpillar tunnel. It is also unheated. The main things we are growing in there right now is spinach and lettuce. We are almost to the point that we will be switching out the cool weather things for summer crops, tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumbers. That should happen in the next week or so.

Seed Starting Greenhouse March 2024
Our seed starting greenhouse is a heated space where we start all our transplants. It is currently full of plant starts. Here’s some of what we have started to transplant out in the near future: tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, bell pepper, lunchbox peppers, jalapeños, onions, cabbages, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, cucumbers, herbs, and various flower starts.

Outside Field Plots March 2024
We haven’t planted much in our outside plots yet this year. However, we do have sugar snap peas, shell peas, and spinach growing in the field plots. In addition, our garlic we planted in the fall is looking great!

Raised Bed and Container Garden March 2024
We have a small area with raised beds that was primarily devoted to growing strawberries. Unfortunately, a lot of those died over the past two years do to lack of rain and water. That being said, we do have one bed that is full of luscious strawberry plants. We also planted tulips bulbs in these beds in the fall and they have been blooming over the past few weeks.
We also have a raised bed/container area near our house that our kids use to grow their own garden. There, they have some fall-planted ranunculus as well as a handful of garlic plants. In addition, they have perennial herbs that are starting to come back after winter.
